| James Mizaur has built traditional timber framed houses and barns for many years throughout New England. Our barn frames are constructed in the mortise and tenon style of the eighteenth
century. White Pine, Oak and Fir timber are used in combinations that provide strength for clear spans, unobstructed space, and the beauty of heavy timber construction. |
| Our timber frames are carefully built with all floor joists fully mortised into their supporting timbers. Connecting girts are housed and thru tenoned at posts. Mortised in oak braces provide strength and stability. Joints are pinned with white oak pegs. Timber work is done in local western Massachusetts shops with frame packages going to all New England states. | |
| We
provide plans for each barn project showing elevations and cross sections with registered engineer’s stamp to simplify the permit process. A material list is included with each set of plans. |
| All timbers are labeled and color coded. Clear instructions insure speedy assembly with most frames erected in one workday. We can provide a timber frame package delivered to your site ready for your builder to assemble, or if you prefer, we can fully erect the frame foundation. | |
