Full Cape
One of the most attractive elements of this traditional full cape is the Rumford fireplace in the kitchen/ family room area. Equally important, this design offers the most affordable residential space on a dollar per foot basis, and is shown here containing about 1900 square feet.
This cape appears here without ells, which can be added as needed. The addition of dormers will increase light and ventilation for the second floor. The layout can be developed in many different forms. The stairway shown in the family room might be placed in the area now occupied by the front door closet. The fireplace could be configured to provide for three bedrooms on the second floor, as well as to allow for the addition of a bathroom on the first floor.
